Self Serve Gas Service

I was pumping my own gas today and all of a sudden I remembered when we used to drive in and get full service! I started wondering if there were any gas stations that still provide that service?

Then I started thinking how technology allowed us to implement self service and asked myself just who does benefit from self service?

• Is it the gas station owner because more people will go inside and probably spend on the candy, newspapers, snacks, etc that are inside the station.
• Is it us the buyer of the gasoline ... is waiting shorter?
• Are prices really lower?

Who benefits from the technology of point of sale software that created the ability to offer self service gasoline?
