Bottle Recycling

Wow ... it was easy!

I went to the local bottle recycling "stand" next to Ralphs grocery store today and it was just so amazing to see all the people lined up with bags and boxes and tubs full of empty glass and plastic bottles! I don't know if the intent was to recycle or obtain the cash that "so easily" is obtained by rounding up these empty bottles!

I must say it is actually kind of fun and therapeutic ( I need a life!) to one-by-one put the bottles in the automatic chute! Then after you are done, one push of a button instantly provides you with a tally of your efforts and a dollar total that you can instantly claim at Ralphs!

The computer at work again ... Today's Way!! Technology has made it easy to help our planet by recycling and to receive some extra cash! I just love it! What do you think???

Self Serve Gas Service

I was pumping my own gas today and all of a sudden I remembered when we used to drive in and get full service! I started wondering if there were any gas stations that still provide that service?

Then I started thinking how technology allowed us to implement self service and asked myself just who does benefit from self service?

• Is it the gas station owner because more people will go inside and probably spend on the candy, newspapers, snacks, etc that are inside the station.
• Is it us the buyer of the gasoline ... is waiting shorter?
• Are prices really lower?

Who benefits from the technology of point of sale software that created the ability to offer self service gasoline?
